Steve Jobs quote and Big Dog.

I thought it a good idea to begin the new week with this positive quote by Steve Jobs

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.    Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.     Don’t let the noise of other people’s opinions drown out your own inner voice.    And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition”.  Steve Jobs.

Now for the Big Dog:)

The prime reason for my recent trip to Wiltshire was to do preliminary sketches for a family portrait, which I am currently working on.

However, I also had the good fortune to be around lots of animals during the weekend, including this lovely big dog….

Starting with brush and yellow ochre I sketch out the form…

I loved the shapes the dog produced as it sprawled out..  In this frame, I have introduced burnt sienna, burnt umber and yellow ochre watercolour….leaving some dry white paper areas for high lights.

Using Designer Gouache permanent white, plus some blue and yellow, I add more colour to the body.

To complete I emphasise the darks.

To complete, a magical hummingbird with matching colours:)

These are just awesome. You could walk me through it, even holding my hand, and I’d never be an artist. Such a great gift. I’m envious.
